JOB SUMMARY
The Systems Engineer SME will serve as a senior technical resource supporting the design, development, and sustainment of secure, enterprise-grade applications for a government client. This position combines expertise in software engineering, systems integration, and automation to deliver scalable cloud-native solutions. The engineer will work across development and operations teams to build resilient services using modern toolchains, Power Platform integration, and AI-driven automation frameworks that advance digital modernization efforts. The role requires strong communication and articulation skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders in an Agile environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Job responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design, develop, and deploy secure and scalable enterprise applications within Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
- Build and maintain APIs and automation workflows leveraging Microsoft Stack technologies (.NET, Power Platform, Logic Apps, and Functions).
- Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps to support continuous integration and secure delivery.
- Lead technical design reviews and collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to federal standards.
- Integrate automation frameworks such as Azure Automation and Power Platform to streamline operational processes.
- Support and experiment with AI and intelligent automation technologies, including Copilot Studio, Agentic AI frameworks, and AI agent orchestration (e.g., AWS Bedrock).
- Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes for high availability and scalability.
- Contribute to blockchain and distributed ledger initiatives where applicable to secure data exchange and improve auditability.
- Collaborate within Agile Scrum teams using tools such as Rally to manage work tickets, track progress, and support iterative delivery.
- Provide subject-matter expertise, mentoring, and hands-on guidance to engineering and DevOps teams.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND SKILLS
The selected candidate must have the following qualifications and skills:
- Proven experience with Azure Cloud Services and cloud architecture design.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Stack technologies (.NET, Power Platform, Logic Apps, and Functions).
- Strong background in Full Stack Development (.NET, Java, and modern frameworks).
- Expertise with Power Platform connectors and custom API integration.
- Experience with CI/CD automation pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
- Skilled in automation frameworks (Power Platform, Azure Automation).
- Familiarity with Copilot Studio, Agentic AI Frameworks, and AI agent orchestration (e.g., AWS Bedrock).
- Working knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of automation testing methodologies and secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience working within Agile Scrum methodologies and using tools like Rally for sprint planning and ticket management.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
It is desirable that the candidate has the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience applying blockchain or distributed ledger technologies in secure or compliance-driven environments.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, scalability, and observability best practices.
- Familiarity with federal security frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or CMMC.
