JOB SUMMARY
The Systems Administrator will manage day-to-day system operations, monitoring, and compliance across secure enterprise environments in support of a government client. This role is responsible for maintaining reliable system performance, implementing automation and monitoring solutions, and ensuring adherence to security and operational standards. The Systems Administrator will work closely with engineering and security teams to sustain critical infrastructure, optimize performance, and contribute to ongoing modernization initiatives.
rESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Job responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Administer and maintain secure enterprise systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and compliance.
- Monitor and analyze system performance using observability and security tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform) to automate system configuration, testing, and updates.
- Apply automation frameworks and best practices to reduce manual effort and increase operational efficiency.
- Support certificate and key management practices to maintain secure authentication and encryption standards.
- Maintain and document configuration management processes to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure deployment practices and infrastructure resilience.
- Participate in Agile Scrum workflows, managing individual tickets and deliverables through platforms such as Rally or equivalent project tracking tools, while maintaining clear communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Contribute to ongoing modernization efforts, leveraging containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable system deployment.
- Support system patching, updates, and auditing in alignment with Secure Operations & Maintenance (O&M) standards.
- Participate in compliance reviews and assist in implementing recommendations to strengthen system posture.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND SKILLS
The selected candidate must have the following qualifications and skills:
- Strong understanding of Secure O&M standards and federal compliance frameworks.
- Experience managing or integrating CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform).
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working within Scrum teams, including managing individual work items and communicating progress effectively.
- Proficiency with security monitoring, observability, and automation testing tools for system performance, validation, and threat detection.
- Working knowledge of automation testing and configuration management techniques.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for system packaging and environment consistency.
- Broad understanding of secure enterprise operations, including compliance frameworks, containerization, automation, certificate management, and infrastructure monitoring.
- Strong communication and articulation skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both engineering teams and leadership.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
It is desirable that the candidate has the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience supporting enterprise system administration and monitoring functions in secure or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with blockchain or distributed ledger technologies as emerging security and integrity solutions.
- Understanding of federal IT security standards, including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or CMMC.
