RESTON, VA, December 20, 2021<\/strong> \u2014 LATCH, serving as the prime contractor, has been awarded the Medical Device Verification Using Model-Based Testing contract through the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program. During this contract, LATCH, the University of Pennsylvania, and Altrix Medical, Inc. will develop and refine a methodology to identify and verify anomalies and vulnerabilities in the software and firmware of devices.<\/p>

The DARPA SBIR Program is a highly competitive awards-based program that allows small businesses to immerse themselves in Federal Research\/Research and Development (R\/R&D) to show their technological potential. The goal of the DARPA SBIR Program is to stimulate high-tech innovation and to grow \u201centrepreneurial spirit\u201d while meeting R\/R&D needs.<\/p>

\u201cWe are very excited to be conducting our research with DARPA and the Small Business Innovation Research program and our partners at the University of Pennsylvania and Altrix Medical,\u201d said Leone Atchison, President of LATCH. She adds, \u201cUnder the guidance of Paul Jones, our Principal Investigator, and Dr. Oleg Sokolsky, our Co-Principal Investigator, we are enhancing warfighter readiness through a rigorous, effective, and independent verification methodology and model to identify vulnerabilities in the software and firmware of medical devices.\u201d<\/p>
